Subject Metrics today launched the Resident Access Portal, a centralized experience designed to help community members better understand their relationship with civic-intelligence infrastructure.

The portal provides a consistent starting point for residents seeking information about data access, retention, correction, deletion eligibility, participating agencies, and other questions that may vary by jurisdiction, product configuration, legal status, and terminology.

“Transparency begins with knowing where to begin,” said Mara Venn, Vice President of Trust Architecture. “The Resident Access Portal gives every person a clear path toward determining whether another path may be available.”

A guided request process

Residents can now:

  1. Verify their identity
  2. Identify the jurisdiction they believe may have observed them
  3. Select the category of information they believe may exist
  4. Provide supporting details demonstrating why they believe it exists
  5. Confirm eligibility to submit an eligibility review
  6. Track the status of their request to request access

Available statuses include:

  • Identity enrichment in progress
  • Jurisdictional responsibility unclear
  • Request to request under review
  • Operational sensitivity assessment
  • Response eligibility pending
  • Closed with available explanation

The portal is designed to improve transparency without exposing sensitive system architecture, investigative methods, authorized data sources, partner identities, retention exceptions, or information that could reveal whether the requesting resident is being observed.

Privacy throughout the process

Information submitted through the Resident Access Portal may be used to verify identity, resolve duplicate profiles, associate previously disconnected records, prevent fraud, improve resident experience, and support future relevance.

Residents are not required to create an account.

One may be created around them as necessary.
